Christ said not to swear an oath (Matthew 5:33-37), but will God require man to swear in the future according to prophecy?
 

In the millennial period, all people will be swearing. A man "shall swear by the God of truth" (Isaiah 65:16), Later, all men must swear to God (Isaiah 45:23). There is no contradiction. Christ at the time he said to make no oaths was in the environment of the first century when it was common both in Jewish and Gentile society to say "by God this" or by God that." Among the Gentiles it was "by Jupiter this" or "by Jupiter that."
