Abraham had his servant make an oath by his hand being placed "under my thigh." What did Abraham mean?
 

The New Bible Commentary (p.100) says that "under my thigh is an allusion to the genital organ." Several ancient peoples had such customs. Even the word testes comes from the Latin "witness." Abraham’s servant was probably swearing on Abraham’s projected progeny.
