Does a day represent a year in the prophetic contexts of the Bible?

A day can answer to a year if the Bible says it does (Numbers 14:34 and Ezekiel 4:6). But these two references give no license for a day/year application in other prophetic contexts. Those who utilize the day/year principle whenever it suits their fancy do so on their own authority – not the Bible’s. Much prophetic confusion can be avoided if the simple fact that the use of the word day, when governed by a numeral, always means a twenty-four hour day unless the Bible tells us differently.
