God ever cause people to believe a falsehood – a lie?

While we are told explicitly that there are two things in which it is impossible
for God to lie (that is in regard to his promises and oaths to mankind and to
angels – Hebrews 6:18), God has caused people to believe falsehoods in
the past. "The Lord has put a lying spirit in the mouth of
all these prophets" (I Kings 22:23). If people wish to continue in
wickedness and deceivableness, God will retort in kind (II Thessalonians 2:10)
for we are told that God will also cause delusion in the future to the wicked.
"God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie"
(II Thessalonians 2:11).
