The Long-Haired “Jesus” Is a Pagan God

One of the biggest errors Hollywood has made is in their depiction of Jesus while he was teaching here on earth. The real Jesus DID NOT have long hair and no evidence before the fourth century suggests he even had a beard.

The apostle Paul utterly condemned long hair on a male human being (I Corinthians 11:14) because males were created to be in the image of God and Christ who did not (nor do they now) have long hair. There is absolute proof that Jewish men (with Greeks and Romans) customarily wore their hair short. In the Bible long hair to the shoulders like that normally associated with women is confined to the description of evil spirits (Revelation 9:8). The so-called "Jesus" that we see in churches and books today is a fourth century concoction that is an image of Zeus (the chief of the pagan gods-- especially in his Sarapis or Egyptian form). If the apostles could come back to life and go into our Christian churches today, they would be aghast at seeing a pagan god being displayed and now being called (of all things) "Jesus." This is where the biggest problem emerges from possessing pictures, icons or statues of "Jesus." Even if it were the true likeness of Jesus being displayed, the scriptures forbid that such a thing be done (Exodus 20:4), but when Aaron (the brother of Moses) made the likeness of a calf and called it the Lord (YHVH), we find that the Lord became very angry over the matter (Exodus 32:1-14). Aaron had simply made the likeness of a calf which symbolized a cherub (an angelic being) who led the Israelites out of Egypt. True, even Moses allowed cherubim to be placed in the holiest part of the sanctuary (Exodus 25:17-22). But this cherubic personage was not the God of Israel who symbolically sat on a throne of sapphire stone above the cherubim in the holy of holies (Ezek. 1:26). Aaron displayed the wrong deity.

Look at this for a moment. Suppose you went into a church and hung a picture of John Wayne next to that of "Jesus" and told the people that picture of John Wayne was exactly how the real Jesus looked and that it should be substituted for the other long-haired "Jesus" that Christians have accepted since the fourth century. If you did this, most people would laugh (or scold) you to shame for such a false depiction. And the people would be right. But what have we done since the fourth century? We have replaced the real Jesus with Zeus (in the form of the Egyptian Sarapis) with his long hair and beard and we now call him "Jesus."

Hollywood simply follows what the general public want. It is like calling a picture of "John Wayne" as being "Jesus," and it is pure nonsense. Aaron did the same when Moses was on Mount Sinai. He made God look like someone else and then told Israel to worship this false depiction. Again, let me state clearly (and scholars know this), the image of the long-haired and bearded "Jesus" is not the Jesus of the Bible. It is none other than Zeus (Sarapis) the chief pagan god. The apostle John said: "Little children, keep yourselves from idols" (I John 5:21).
