When the judgment of God comes on the earth shortly before the Second Coming of Christ back to this earth the Bible states that the Kings and leaders of the earth go into hiding to preserve their own lives, even though they wish they would die. They will go into, or under, the earth out of fear. They are terrified.
Toward the end of World War II Adolph Hitler had a deep bunker in Berlin where he was safe from the Allied bombs that decimated the great city. In recent times, other world leaders have dug deep underground to avoid bombings. Sadaam Hussein had many underground bunkers and hideouts that were constructed over decades. The United States, British, Russian and Chinese governments have deep bunkers designed to resist anything except a direct hit from a nuclear blast.
In fact the leaders of most nations have bunkers to protect them from attack from enemies or natural disasters. This protective measure will continue in the future.
At the time of the end world leaders will use those deep bunkers in a vain attempt to protect themselves from the wrath of God. Open your Bible and look at the full context of what Isaiah writes:
“For the day of the Lord of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low ... And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the Lord, and for the glory of his majesty, when he arises to shake terribly the earth.”This passage is not just talking about shallow holes or natural caverns. How do I know? Simple. Natural caverns are not usually conveniently located where world leaders and rich men choose to hide.• Isaiah 2:12, 19
While some may accuse me of “reading into” the text with contemporary events and conditions, in this case natural holes in rocks and caves do not fit the requirements for world leaders and rich men to hide and protect themselves. Such people hide in underground bunkers dug out by fantastic machines so huge that their size will surprise you.
A passage in Revelation 6 talks about the same time as the passage in Isaiah:
“And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in [into] the dens [caves] and in [into] the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, ‘Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?’”The fear and terror that will come upon the leaders of the world will not be lessened by their protective hiding places. It will avail them nothing. It might even be that the chambers they are hiding in will “ring” from the earthquakes and shakings that the leaders will desire to die and end their misery.• Revelation 6:14–17
Huge machines dug the 31-mile tunnel between England and France 150 feet under the floor of the English Channel. Over 13,000 construction workers constructed the Chunnel at a cost of roughly $15 billion dollars.
Many subways are dug out of bedrock under major cities around the world with huge machines. Tunnels are bored through mountains with such equipment. And finally, underground bunkers are carved in rock and caves; dug out by similar huge creations of mankind.
The photos on the webpage below are from advertising webpage photos set out by the manufacturers of actual machines in existence today. Such huge machines can only be transported in pieces and assembled in place, or they are transported on railcars. The caverns these machines can dig would fulfill the biblical dens and caves that world leaders and the rich would hide inside — if this is what the passages refer to.
I especially find the last one to be most interesting. Why does the United States Air Force have a machine that bores holes in mountains? Obviously to dig protected facilities inside the bedrock of mountains, facilities that must withstand a nuclear attack. Perhaps these governments expect future disasters beyond the normal warfare that ensues between nations. In any case, no matter how large and secure they build their dens and caves, nothing will protect them from the wrath of God.
