Commentary for August 1, 2003 — Romans and Galatians

This month’s “Newsletter” and articles are “The Principal Theology of the Book of Romans” and “The Book of Galatians.” These two complementary articles give a quick but excellent analysis of the books as a whole.

You will gain much of what God desires you to know about the message of Romans and Galatians if you read the books themselves either in conjunction with reading the articles or shortly after. Rereading Scripture is always useful and productive.

The purpose Romans and Galatians is to increase your understanding and desire for God’s Spirit, which is life, and literally contains within it the seed of eonian or age-lasting life which is the “stuff” of immortality that Christ alone of all humans has attained (1 Timothy 6:16 and 2 Timothy 1:10), and which we shall be given to put on like a coat at Christ’s return (1 Corinthians 15:53–54).

“For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. … And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.”

“For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting [eonian, for the age].”
• Galatians 6:8

This will take place for the great majority of humankind after sin is repudiated, death is abolished, the ages (eons) have ended (Hebrews 9:26), and all authority that Christ has gathered up in the Kingdom of God is given back and subjected to the Father who will become All in All (1 Corinthians 15:28). Beyond that the Scriptures are silent.

Housekeeping

We have had no response for our search for an audiotape recorded by Dr. Martin sometime in 1974, 1975 or possibly 1976 on the topic of Universal Reconciliation. In fact the tape had the words “Universal Reconciliation” in the title. The tape presented the information in such a strong manner that I am sure you would be as impressed as I was with its presentation, logic and scriptural accuracy. (I loaned out my copy some time ago and I have not seen it since.) If you look in your tape archives and come across the tape, please notify us before you send it to us. It may be best for you to make a copy of the tape first.

Also, the book 101 Bible Secrets that Christians Do Not Know is nearing the end of its current cycle. It will start again soon. Remember that the entire book is available for sale in hardcopy through the ASK Website. Note also the other books that are online for your education.

This book and the others online are resources are for your benefit. Read them online to renew your acquaintance with the material. It will refresh your memory and bring to mind other aspects of knowledge you learned since you first read the material. In general the chapters are short and easily read on-screen.
