Iraq in Prophecy, as War Rages

Commentary for April 1, 2003 - Prophetic Fulfillment?

As I write, war is raging in Iraq between Coalition forces comprised mainly of troops from the United States and Great Britain. Perhaps what Saddam Hussein pronounced in 1991 as "The Mother of All Battles" truly will soon take place as the siege of Baghdad, the capital of Iraq with a population of 5,000,000 souls. What is happening at this moment in Iraq may have a direct time-relationship to prophecies contained in the Bible. On the other hand it may be another step in preparation for prophecies that will occur later. We live in interesting times.

As I have said previously, nothing short of divine intervention will prevent a Coalition victory in Iraq. However, God is in control of events and rulers, not humans. We have obviously not yet reached the time of Micah 4:3 when swords shall be beaten into plowshares and spears into pruning hooks. Let us hope that Coalition forces will be able to do (as much as possible) what Jeremiah encouraged Zedekiah to do,

"Thus saith the Lord, 'Execute ye judgment and righteousness, and deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.'"

* Jeremiah 22:3

The "April Newsletter" gives background for and relates to the April article "The Prophetic Future of Iraq." That future may not be too far off, as God will perform what he prophesied,

"Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it."

* Isaiah 46:9-11

Every day and every major world event (especially those events that deal with the Middle East, Israel, Jerusalem and the true Temple Mount) lead us closer to the restitution of all things, the End Times and the return of Jesus Christ back to this earth, when God visibly intervenes in the lives of His children, for which all of creation awaits (Romans 8:19). Read and learn the timely information in this article. It will give you peace that God is in control.
