An Unfortunate Quote - December 16, 2010
Recently in Jerusalem an elderly but important Sephardic rabbi spoke publicly about Jewish racial superiority and the inferiority of non-Jews. His statement shocked the Jewish community in Israel and has given ammunition to opponents of Israel and radical Islamists. Here is the Jerusalem Post article titled, "Yosef: Gentiles exist only to serve Jews." This Commentary analyzes this rabbi's statement.

Creation Old and New - December 1, 2010
This month's article by Dr. Ernest L. Martin is titled "The Story of Creation" which presents his unique theory of creation as described in Genesis chapter 1. As always, read first the "December 2010 Newsletter" which has introductory information about this month's subject matter. Dr. Martin's theory is truly unique. It has not been put forth anywhere else. After his article I analyze his theory of creation, comparing it to other theories.

Melchizedek Background - November 17, 2010
I have been asked to resolve contradictions in Dr. Martin's writings regarding Melchizedek. While I will not resolve these issues in this Commentary, I will attempt to clarify and explain them in next month's January 2011 article. In this Commentary I will cover the scriptures that mention this very intriguing individual.

The Times of Ezekiel - November 1, 2010
Ezekiel was a younger contemporary of the prophet Jeremiah, yet his prophetic ministry as a prophet of God was different than that of Jeremiah's. Ezekiel was also a bit older than another contemporary, Daniel. This month's article is "Introduction to Ezekiel." Begin by reading the short November 2010 Newsletter.

A Billion People Watched - October 23, 2010
The wonderful news of the rescue of 33 miners in Chile was watched by an estimated one billion people. One out of every six people on the planet watched some portion of this unique human experience. The event was watched live with the joy of a seeming "physical" return from certain death of the rescued miners. Some likened the rescue to a type of resurrection. This rescue brings into focus a future event in the Book of Revelation.

Appointed by YHWH - October 1, 2010
According to the Hebrew grammarian Gesenius the name Jeremiah means "Appointed by YHWH." If this is the case, then Jeremiah's name states a fact because he was indeed appointed by YHWH to perform important functions as a prophet of God to the kingdom of Judah and to all the people of Israel. These functions are introduced in this month's presenta?tion "Introduction to Jeremiah" by Dr. Ernest L. Martin. Read first the "October 2010 Newsletter."
-
Spontaneous Generation - September 21, 2010
The theory of "spontaneous generation" is being defended and promoted by eminent physicist Stephen Hawking and coauthor Leonard Mlodinow in their new book The Grand Design: New Answers to the Ultimate Questions of Life. However, Hawking's concept of the universe is more expansive than most such cosmological origins. This Commentary will discuss its shortcomings.

Quotes from Isaiah - September 1, 2010
You are probably familiar with several verses in Isaiah because they are quoted in the New Testament. Or, you may have read these verses from the Book of Isaiah, but their quotation and interpretation by Jesus and the New Testament writers has increased your familiarity with them. This month's article by Dr. Ernest L. Martin and me is "Introduction to Isaiah" which will cover basics about this very important Old Testament book which is central to New Testament doctrine. The September 2010 Newsletter has additional information about Isaiah.

Fighting Evil - August 19, 2010
QUESTION: I was listening to your show on The Byte Show about the "Coming: the New World Order," and you state we should not resist it. So I guess we just let evil things happen and say nothing, like their HAARP earthquakes killing millions, 9/11 and WMD lies which I became personally aware of, and am now a targeted individual because I spoke out against these crimes. So we as Christians are just supposed to be obedient little creatures to this
evil? That does not set right with me or what God teaches about resisting evil.
-
Philosophy and Vain Words - August 1, 2010
There are two verses at the end of this month's article that provide a quick and easy analysis of the theology of modern orthodox Christianity, and even its origins. They are Colossians 2:8 and Ephesians 5:6. Together these two verses tell where the unbiblical teaching of orthodox Christianity came from and why they continue to hold power over Christian denominations today. According to the apostle Paul, there are two major sources of error in the ekklesia.
-
Freedom Versus Choice - July 17, 2010
This Commentary gives additional information about freedom versus choice as discussed in the Bible. The Holy Scriptures use the concept of freedom as the direct opposite of the concept of bondage, whether physical bondage such as slavery, or emotional or spiritual bondage. One is either in bondage or free. "Choice" takes place with every thought and action you take. You make choices even under bondage (as we are all under bondage to sin), even when those choices are made under great compulsion. Choice is not the same as freedom.

Help My Unbelief - July 1, 2010
This month's article "Christian in Name Only" was written as an encouragement. I wrote it to encourage those who believe in Christ's resurrection to take action and increase their faith, meaning your faith also. Of course you cannot "work up" faith, you must ask God to increase your faith through His Holy Spirit which will give you the motivation to love God and man even more. You must not stagnate. The "July 2010 Newsletter" gives an introduction to the subject.

Israel Is Losing Friends - June 14, 2010
Some potentially significant events are taking place in the Middle East. The political isolation of Israel among the nations in its region and around the world is increasing. In addition, the Obama administration is decidedly cooling toward Israel and its policies regarding the Palestinian people in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. These small areas are governed by different political regimes. This volatile mixture, plus sudden actions by Turkey all make for move-ment eventually toward a prophesied enlarged Palestinian state along the Mediterranean coast.
-
God's Emotions - June 1, 2010
God has feelings about His children, which is the subject of this month's article by Dr. Ernest L. Martin, "Does God Have Feelings?" Indeed He does. First read the "June 2010 Newsletter," which has very relevant information on this topic, and then dive into Dr. Martin's highly enlightening article.
-
Defense of Easter? - May 17, 2010
A question and a comment came to us about Easter. I respond to this inquiry with some biblical information.
-
Prophecies of Moses - May 1, 2010
Several prophecies given by Moses dealt with the time of the end, a period still future to us today. The term "prophet" had a wide meaning in the Old Testament and included the functions of being a preacher and a writer as well as someone who predicted the future. The prophecies of Moses were most always about the people and nation of Israel. "Mosaic Prophecies for the End Time" is the major article for May 2010. The second article is "Falsification of Prophecy."
-
Volcanoes and Civilization - April 19, 2010
This past week the Eyjafjallaj?kull (also spelled Eyjafj?ll) volcano in Southern Iceland began an eruption spewing caustic ash into the air tens of thousands of feet over a wide area, with an ash cloud extending over much of Europe. The effect of this glass-like silica ash is very destructive to engines, particularly jet engines, with the result that a large percentage of air traffic has been halted and planes grounded over many of the busiest air corridors in Western Europe.
-
You Are My Witnesses - April 1, 2010
The nations are witnesses to the actions of God through Israel. Israel is a witness of God's grace and providence. An important passage in Isaiah explains.
-
Reading the Old Covenant - March 18, 2010
The apostle Paul has some very interesting comments to make about Israel's inability to understand the Scriptures that God gave to them to read, understand, and to preserve. You will learn about Paul's opinion of their understanding. Most interesting

Questioning Things - March 1, 2010
The articles this month have a theme of questioning things. Do you have the courage to question things? Should a person be able to question the teachings of religious leaders in an open or even a public forum? And, even, can you question the text of Scripture? This month's articles are "Conscience and Responsibility" and "The Tomb of Rachel," both by Dr. Ernest L. Martin.

King Abdullah II and Jerusalem - February 17, 2010
On January 29, 2010 King Abdullah II, King of Jordan was interviewed by Fareed Zakaria, CNN interview show host and Editor, Newsweek International, at the 2010 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland. Here are excerpts from that interview.
-
Lake of Fire Reality - February 1, 2010
A few weeks ago I removed Dr. Martin's article "The Lake of Fire: Where Is It Located?" from the ASK website. As I re-typeset the article and reviewed Dr. Martin's sources, it became obvious that many of those sources should be quoted at length and with expanded context. There was a great deal more information to be included and added to Dr. Martin's excellent original 1981 article. This month's article is a substantial expansion of that 1981 article with additional source materials cited which bolsters Dr. Martin's original argument, now in a clearer format.
-
Haiti Earthquake - January 14, 2010
I do not usually comment on recent news events but the earthquake in Haiti must be an exception. The devastating earthquake that hit the 1/2 island nation of Haiti in the Caribbean may have killed up to 200,000 people. This was the estimate by the Prime Minister of Haiti in a CNN interview. The Bible mentions earthquakes often.
-
Abraham, Sabbath, and God's Priorities - January 1, 2010
There are two articles this month. Read the "January 2010 Newsletter" that will introduce both articles: "Did Abraham Keep the Sabbath?" and "The Priorities of God." (Read the Abraham article first because it relates to the second article.) Abraham, "the father of all them who believe" (Romans 4:11), is the example for all believers. He does not represent us to God in any way, but Abraham "is the father of us all,"
